EV Maritime is built on a simple premise: to decarbonise the harbour cities of the world.

Better harbours,Better cities

We are transforming the passenger experience with our smart, zero-emission fast ferry solutions, driving mode-shift from polluting cars to cleaner, quieter vessels – and enhancing our communities and marine environment at the same time.

The climate crisis demands a response – we can help the world’s harbour cities rise to the challenge.

Did you know:

Recent analysis for Auckland New Zealand found that ferry emissions were heavily dominated by a small number of long, fast routes: 50% of the sailings delivered accounted for over 90% of ferry emissions

Emissions savings by the boat-load

In response to climate change, nations around the world have committed to halving their greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, and to net zero emissions by 2050. Ferries need to play their part in this.

As cities look to decarbonise their transport sectors, ferries are a valuable public transport solution – but diesel fast ferries are heavy emitters.

EV Maritime brings zero emission solutions to decarbonise and expand the commuter fast ferry sector.

Our ferries

Better ferry solutions matter above and below the surface

EV Maritime is not only developing boats with different power systems. We are striving for a step change in ferry design, fleet management and customer experience. Elimination of emissions is central to this, but there is more.

Measurements in harbour cities have found elevated levels of black carbon and other airborne pollutants near ferry and port operations. Vulnerability to respiratory illness is exacerbated by exposure to pollution associated with hydrocarbon combustion. Our cities are also subject to another form of pollution: noise. Fast ferries are remarkably noisy, disturbing urban and coastal communities. Studies have even shown this noise to be harmful to marine life.

The time has come to embrace a more sustainable ferry future for our cities.

Forward thinking by design

We use circular economy principles to improve the sustainability of our vessels, such as ethical supply chains and low embedded-energy materials, zero-emission propulsion, recyclable materials and end-of-life management.

Our boats are built for extended product life, so embedded energy and product costs can be amortised over a longer period.

We also work with your local boat builders to manufacture our designs ensuring employment and learning opportunities stay in your city.
